The Call of the Mountain and The Inspirations from Deep Within

Hey there!

My birthday has come to pass soooo....normal days drag on again. Sigh

Anyways. STBL-born Ideas yet again!

Koa'ki Meiru Wall

LVL 4 EARTH
Rock 1900/1200
During each of your End Phases, destroy this card unless you send 1 "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" from your hand to the Graveyard or reveal 1 Rock-Type monster in your hand. You can Tribute this card to negate the activation of an opponent's Spell Card and destroy that card.

Koa'ki Meiru's are a very aggressive, versatile and interesting control Archetype. Seen more so in it's Rock-Type theme.
I always have a soft spot for these negating-monster-golems-from-who-knows-where as I first used them in my first ever YGO Regionals in Calgary. (and I was also the first and only one that ran it that time) I didn't get a high enough ladder during that time, as I have misplayed a lot, but I still enjoyed the feel and raw control the Ko-Rocky Meiru's have given me in my games. And Wall just made them a whole lot better. Like that fuzzy feeling you get when you look at a puppy and kitten playing.

As of today, these are the things that a Rock Stun deck can take control of in a game:
  • Monster Effects (Guardian)
  • Spells (Wall)
  • Traps (Sandman)
  • Special Summons (Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo)
  • Monster Presence (Legendary Jujitsu Master, Mole, Morphing # 2)
  • Hand Advantage (Morphing Jar)
  • Facedown/Continuous Spells and Traps (Gigantes when dead)
All we need is Normal Summon, Draw and Opponent Turn negation and I'll be happy! Ai!

That's it for my Ideas corner.

Oh! and starting next post I'll be adding something snazzy to my posts, to make it a bit more interesting and not....bland. (-_-')

Ckp here,
Peace Out!

The Dragon Riders and The Darkness' Plummage

The aftermath of the Sneak Peek got many into a good mood. Some got awesome pulls, while some got epic wins. Many got frustrated, many went on a trading frenzy , but all in all, many had fun.

And with that intro, time to dish out my first YGO Idea post, Ikimashou!!!

My idea of the day is centered around a very quick, consistent and favorite meta choice ever since Raging Battle was released, the Blackwings. These little winged critters center their strategy on Special Summoning en-masse and bulldozing their opposition with either their sheer numbers or many quick, reliable and abuse-able tricks.

So what could make this fan favorite even better you ask?

Let's add dragons!

Wait...What!?!?!

With the release of STBL and TCG Duel Terminal 3, us TCGers gain access to a very interesting Archetype that used to be OCG exclusive, the Dragunities. Or more specifically for this post's sake the sub-archetype the Dragunity Knights.

Imagine Synchroing a Dragunity Knight Gae dearg, activating it's effect to search Vayu first, then discard said Vayu. Automatic set-up for a Vayu turbo. (Gae dearg = Foolish burial on a stick)

Next scenario.

Synchroing a Dragunity Knight Gae dearg, activating it's effect to search Breeze first, Special Summon said Breeze with it's own effect, then discarding a LVL 4 or lower Blackwing to Grave. Normal Summon Blizzard, then Special Summon discarded Blackwing. Sync with Blizzard or Double Synch if there was another monster with Breeze. (Gae dearg = Your second Black Whirlwind w/o ATK restriction)

Here's another.
Synchroing a Dragunity Knight Gae dearg, activating it's effect to search Blizzard first, then discarding a LVL 4 or lower Blackwing to Grave. Normal Summon Blizzard, then Special Summon discarded Blackwing. Sync with Blizzard. (Gae dearg = Tuning for Blackwings. Interestingly enough, both effects resolve the same way)

Interesting eh!

The Puppets of War and The Evolution of the Cosmos

Since I'm on fire today might as well post about a little bit of everything that's interesting.

Let's talk about Yu-Gi-Oh!. More specifically Starstrike Blast. The Sneak Peek is tomorrow and Sunday so get your butts down there if you want a glimpse of the newest set.

Starstrike Blast offers us a few new Archetypes for the game namely the Karakuri and the Cosmic Synchros.

The Karakuri(Mechanical in Nippon) are a set of EARTH-Attribute Machine-Type monsters that are based around the concept of automaton Japanese dolls. This motif can also be seen on the artwork of these monsters (pertaining to 17th -19th century Japanese characters such as Shoguns and Samurais)

The Karakuri meddle around with the mechanic of switching to defense position when selected as an attack target and activating their effects when switched to defense mode. This makes them a bit like the Morphtronics, and can be even used with them to add counters to Morphtronic Map.

All Karakuri Monsters (Except Burei and Karakuri Spider) also have a continuous effect that makes attack each turn if able. Not really a helpful effect since most lower LVL Karakuri monsters have subpar ATK stats (1200-400 ATK)

Moving on...

The Cosmic Synchros, much like the Majestic Archetype, is made of upgraded versions of Yusei and Jack's Signer Dragons, Stardust Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend respectively. Shooting Star Dragon and Red Nova Dragon have patterned ATK and DEF points similar to what their Majestic stats were. Their ATKs are 500 less than their Majestic forms and their DEF is the same value as their core monsters ATK and unlike the Majestics, the Cosmics tend to have a more playable and less restrictive Synchro requirements.

Shooting requires a Tuner Synchro(another new addition to STBL) and Stardust. Easily done by using One for One dumping Grow Up Bulb to Special Summon 1 LVL 1 Non-tuner from the deck (Namely Treeborn Frog) And tuning them for Formula Synchron, tuning it with Stardust. Red Nova on the other hand has a more straight forward approach: Have Red Archfiend on field Tune with 2 Tuners. Basically its like the one for Shooting, only without the messy Synchro-ing in-between.

Both dragons have "When an opponent's monster declares an attack, you can remove from play this card to negate the attack. If you negate an attack this way, Special Summon this card during the End Phase." as part of their last effect while their Primary effects pertain to the use of Tuner monsters.

Shooting's effect pertains to the Future, having you pick up and reveal 5 cards from the Top of the deck. Shooting gains an attack declaration per revealed Tuner monster. That also means, no Tuner = no Shooting Attack = Shooting sad face. It also retains it's destruction negating ability without tribute. Oh for prevent brokeness sake, each effect only activates once each turn.

Nova on the other hand looks to the past. It gains 500 ATK per Tuner in Grave (ABSOLUTOH POWAH FORSU!!!) and it also has an innate it "doesn't get destroyed by card effects" clause too.

These powerful cards could be yours if you go to your local Sneak Peek this coming Saturday and Sunday, November 6 and 7. So open up your weekends guys!

Unfortunately, I can't go cause I'll be working my part-time on the weekends...

Realizations and The Looming 'Coming-of-Age'

RANDOM BLURB MODE (please ignore this post if not interested)

As many of you not know (or do know) my B-day is coming up in 3 days time. I'll be turning 21, and you know what that means...

I'm legal everywhere!!!

On a more serious note, having another year pass me by made me realize a few things:

My Future
Even though I'm already working under a firm, I'm still having doubts if I wanna stick around the construction industry. It's a cool gig and all and I'm learning alot, but there is this weird feeling nagging me in the back of my head. Telling me "Do you actually enjoy this?"

I'm ignoring the fact that working is part of necessity, (heck I'm working at WM while I'm working here) but I always read that "a more succesful person always enjoyed what he was doing, without regretting anything, and without looking back." When I first read this quote it made me more uneasy of what I have now.

My first love (not romantically) has always been and will always be ART. I'm the sketch and Ink kinda sort, and no matter what I drew, I always felt most alive while drawing.
Made a mistake. Just throw it out and start all over.
And I always did this with a smile on my face.

Sigh

Maybe I should pursue art instead?

My Age
I may be 21 but I'm still a child at heart. And anyone who accepts me for who I am, We'll be friends for life!
Enough said.

My Lifestyle
I'm just gonna says this straight up. I'm an otaku. You may have read those stories or news articles about the degrading social youth culture brought up by anime, manga and the like, but unfortunately I strongly disagree with those claims. I myself am living proof that even if I was an otaku for 9 years of my life, I still live a normal(somewhat) and productive lifestyle with no constraints and with proper moral values.

If people claim that the otaku culture is a degrading scene unlike those of more normal past times, then have a look at hockey.
Point has been taken.

Well I think that's about it. Whew. That made me sweat. Haven't wrote something that long since I did a thesis proposal.
That's it for my random blurb in this fine Friday morning. I'll see ya next time.

I'm gonna go out and eat my weight's worth of buffet food on Monday!!!

Ckp here,
Peace-ing out!
